The United Christian Care Center of Vidor used funds from the Foundation for Southeast Texas grant to purchase child friendly foods to distribute to families during the summer of 2014. There is a huge need for additional food for families with children during the summer since over 70 percent of the children in the Vidor area qualify for free or reduced meals at school. Your grant enabled the Center to fill this need by providing canned spaghetti, ravioli, peanut butter, jelly, instant mashed potatoes and pudding cups to families with children.
During the summer of 2014, the Center provided foods purchased with grant funds for 990 families with 1,267 children. The families received an additional bag with these special items and a note that said these groceries were provided by a grant from the Foundation for Southeast Texas.
The children who received the food were especially excited about receiving peanut butter! With the help of the funds from the Foundation for Southeast Texas, the United Christian Care Center of Vidor was able to make the summer a little brighter for a number of children in the Vidor area.
