The Crisis Center
This Project is Sexual Assault/Other Crimes Medical Accompaniment. This funding is being utilized to enable the Crisis Center’s specially trained staff and volunteer advocates to provide the resources such as clothing (outer and under ware) to individuals of sexual assault/rape who present at local medical facilities for Forensic Evidence collection to provide a continuum of care for them and assist them through their crisis. The funds allow the Crisis Center’s specially trained staff and Volunteer Advocates to provide services which will enable victims to have increased access to medical accompaniment services for victims of sexual assault/rape by replacing their clothing, under/outer-ware and foot-ware as it is sometimes taken as evidence during Medical Accompaniment at local medical facilities. It is also be utilized to purchase Art Supplies and colored tee shirts for victims to participate in Art Therapy as needed. The Crisis Center’s Clothes Line Tee Shirt project enables sexual assault victims to project their feelings concerning their trauma on to the tee shirt utilizing art supplies and colored tee shirts. This process is very empowering and is an essential part of the victim’s healing process. In addition, we were funded to purchase a few self-help DVD’s along with Healing from Post Traumatic Syndrome/Rape Trauma Brochures in order to assist in enhancing the healing process for victims served through this project.
The Service delivery area includes Jefferson, Orange and Hardin Counties. Some clients come from other areas as the local medical facilities contacts our office for all victims who present for Medical Forensic Evidence Collection no matter where they live. The Foundation for Southeast Texas, Inc. funding plays a significant role in making a difference in the lives of the clients that we serve. It enables the Crisis Center’s staff and Volunteers to “Help to Re-Build Hopes, Dreams and the Lives of the citizens that we serve in Southeast Texas.”
